JOURNALING
  • Keeping a journal has a multitude of benefits and can be so much fun. It's like having a confidant you can tell anything to without fear of being embarrassed or teased.
  • It's easy, and you can start today. No matter what your age. You can free-write without thinking. You can set goals and check them off. Make bucket lists. You can make it very structured like this:
    • Who and what you prayed for.
    • What you ate.
    • What you have learned.
    • Who you have helped.
    • What you did that you've been putting off.
    • What you have learned by reading your scriptures.
    • What you did that you were afraid of doing.
    • How you felt about your day.

"While you may not have crossed the plains, you are more like the pioneers than you may think! You also can show compassion, hard work, and optimism. And just as we know that the pioneers demonstrated these qualities because of the records they kept, your posterity can get to know you through your journal too....
As you begin writing a little bit every day, you will not only be able to see more clearly how Heavenly Father helps you through your daily life, just as He guided the pioneers, but you will also be leaving a legacy for your own future posterity." -President Dieter F. Uchtdorf

How to make a sweet treat and cute packaging in no time!

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies:
1 cup butter softened
2/3 cup brown sugar
1 1/3 cup white sugar
1 ½ t. vanilla
2 eggs
3 ¾ cup flour
1 t baking soda
1 t salt
1/2 cup milk chocolate chips
1/2 cup semi sweet chocolate chips

Cream butter and sugars for 5 minutes (this is the most important step).  Add slightly beaten vanilla and eggs.  Add the other ingredients.  Scoop cookies with a cookie scooper and place on parchment paper/silpat on the cookie tray.  Bake at 400 degrees for 7 1/2 minutes.

Let cookies cool and place in cellophane bags or printed paper bags. Close the package by tying a cute ribbon or washi tape. Attach a little note to make it more personal.

Doodle or Dabble or Google your Journal!

Doodle, or Dabble, or Google your Journal!
Do it your way, BUT, DO…

…“Get a notebook, my young folks, a journal that will last through all time,
and maybe the angels may quote from it for eternity.
(Spencer W. Kimball said this in 1975 when Grandpa and Grandmas were just starting our journals.
Now our angels, YOU, can quote from them!  )
Begin today and write in it your goings and comings, your deepest thoughts,
your achievements and your failures, your associations and your triumphs,
your impressions and your testimonies.”

Be sure to DO-oooodle these things!
1.               Do start today with an easy plan!
2.              Do make it happy and fill it with details about YOU.
3.              Do dream out loud and write your miracles!

Doodle, or Dabble, or Google, and Giggle!
Love, Grandma

Welcome Welcome!

This weekend we get to have fun, learn, play, and just plain be together.  I don't know about you, but I'm always looking forward to time well spent with my favorite sisters and nieces.  My contribution to the education part of the weekend is:

Drum rolllllllll

How to fold a fitted sheet!

I know it seems simple but it has alluded me until now.  Its high time I learned and now I can teach (hopefully) you too.  Here is the play by play:

Lay it out on the ground or bed.

Fold into the center by thirds to make one long, skinny, rectangle.

Fold top and bottom in about a fourth way in.

Fold again meeting top and bottom folds and

Voila!

You can always pinterest it too!  Tons of ideas that might be easier for you.  Happy folding!
